What a great way to spend a Friday night and a Friday the thirteenth at that. It was our monthly Women’s Bible Study but tonight it was called a retreat and lasted much longer than the normal meetings. First we had a delicious meal that was catered which made it even better since we did not have to go the potluck route. After the meal, door prizes were given out and then one of the ladies gave a short reading of a children’s book that stressed doing one’s best at all times. After this we adjourned to the church sanctuary for the rest of the retreat.
Four of the regular members of the choir had formed a women’s quartet and they inspired us with several songs of praise. After the singing, our pastor’s wife gave her testimony. The end of the program was the speaker from Mercy Ministries in Monroe. I for one did not know of this organization and was glad to hear of all the good they do for young women in trouble.
It is an understatement to say that it was a great night and I know that all of us in attendance went home knowing that we had been blessed and that the Holy Spirit had been at our retreat.
