What A Day!!!!!
More accurately I should say what an afternoon and evening. Brian was going to Colfax to see Christy so I asked if he would like to have lunch before he drove down. It was a very late lunch, or maybe it was an early supper since it was forty thirty in the afternoon. After we ate at our favorite hamburger, place he took off south to Christy’s and I drove to Wal-Mart to return the trash can that I bought but I could not get the bags to fit.
When I left the restaurant I realized that I needed gas so when I got to Wal-Mart I filled up the tank. As I left the gas pumps I waited for a pickup to turn into the parking lot before I drove across the street to the parking lot. The pickup entered the parking lot at an angle across the parking spaces, which is not the way to go, but he did and then stopped. I continued on down the lane, and not at an angle, when all of a sudden the pickup was right beside me and side swiped my right front bumper as he went by. Since no one was behind me I stopped and had a look at my fender, which was not dented, but just had a small scuff mark. The man driving the pickup, who was probably my age, stopped ahead of me and got out and started toward me. I was so ticked that I told him to just go on. He drove on down the lane, correctly this time, and pulled into a handicapped spot. I parked on the other side of the aisle, since I though he just might back into me since he was in a parallel spot and I would have been right behind him in a right angle space. I got out the trashcan to return and he walked toward me and asked if I was all right. I told him yes and then he asked if he could carry the trashcan. I thanked him but said no I could carry it.
I have always heard that women are the worst drivers but I have always been of the opinion that the worst drivers are old men. I know that my little Toyota Corolla has dents and scratches and looks rather beat up and has 280,000 plus miles on it but I do wish that people would stop hitting my Toy and me. Just a week ago yesterday the girl smashed my right front light cover. Still have not heard anything from my insurance company. Will check Tuesday since everything is closed until after Memorial Day.
After I returned the trashcan I drove to Ruston Wal-Mart to hopefully find a large can that my bags would fit. A very nice lady was trying to help me find bags that would fit. I had one of the new bags I had bought in my purse so I handed it to her and low and behold it worked. Like an idiot I had not stretched the top of the bag to fit. So, I picked up another trashcan identical to the one I had returned and put it in the basket of the cart. But then I could not see where I was going so the lady very graciously carried the trashcan to the check out for me. What was also very nice was that she bypassed the registers and went to the service desk, which was empty, and I did not have to wait in line. Been a while since I have had someone be so helpful in a store. I thanked her profusely and left the store feeling great.
By this time my meal of hamburger and fries was well settled and I decided that I really wanted a chocolate milkshake from Sonic. I drove to Sonic and called in my order for a large chocolate milkshake and then the guy asked what flavor I wanted my free milkshake. I asked if I got a free one and he said yes. I waited and waited and finally buzzed again and asked how much longer I had to wait. In about two minutes the carhop came out with my two milkshakes. I took the lid off of one of them and the shake stopped two inches from the top and it was not well mixed. I buzzed again and told the lady about the less than full cup. She apologized and said she would have two right out to me. In about another two minutes here came the same carhop with two very full cups of shake. I thought she would take the first two back but she handed them to me, apologized, and hurried back inside. I sat there and had a good laugh. I stopped at Sonic to get a large chocolate milkshake and here I was going home with FOUR of them. I enjoyed one shake as I drove home and when I got inside and to the kitchen I poured the other three into a large bowl, stirred until well mixed, and put into the freezer. I ended up with about half a gallon of chocolate ice cream.
All I can say before heading to bed is that this was a doozie of a day.
