Happy Mother’s Day, 2010

This morning in church all the mothers were recognized and given a small gift.  It is always nice to be recognized for our contribution to society.  Then the pastor delivered a very good sermon on Christian mothers using Second Timothy, chapter one, and verse five as his first reference.

Late in April when Brian and Christy took a mini vacation, he bought something for me but when he realized that Mother’s Day was in a couple of weeks, he said I had to wait.  Today I reminded him that I had waited patiently but now I would like my surprise.  Knowing how much I like Elvis, he bought me an Elvis CD.    Brian tends to give similar gifts on all occasions so I just may end up with all of the Elvis CDs, which will be fine with me.  Scott and Brian gave me the CD set of gospel music by Elvis for Christmas and I listen to it at least twice a week.

Brian was going to take me out for lunch today but he was still under the weather so I went alone to Fox’s Pizza, which is probably my favorite eating-place.  I was a considerate mom and brought lunch back for him.  I am used to eating alone and it does not bother me at all for I always have a good book with me.

When I left the restaurant, I put my cell phone in my pocket so that I could get to it in a hurry for I expected Scott to call.   As it so happened, Scott did call but I was listening to a book on tape and by the time I heard the phone ringing and managed to get it out of my pocket, he had disconnected.  As soon as I got home I called him and we had a nice chat.  It would have been great if he could have been home for Mother’s Day but he was here three weeks ago and that counted as his birthday and Mother’s Day visit.

Last night I was reading the latest post on Scott’s blog and read about book reviews that he is doing and then posting on his blog and a commercial site for Book Sneeze.  After reading the information on the site, I decided that I would join and do book reviews also.  Hey as much as I read I will have no trouble doing a review since they want the review to be two hundred words or less.  Should be a piece of cake, especially since I like to write and to voice my opinion.
