What An Afternoon!
Got up at a fairly early hour this morning and decided that I was going to go to Monroe to buy a boomerang pillow. I learned of the pillow yesterday and after seeing a picture it seemed that it would be a good pillow for my neck and shoulders. I searched online and found that the only source in this area was Bed Bath and Beyond in Monroe.
I did not leave for Monroe until early afternoon and planned to have lunch at Chick-fil-A at the Mall. As I neared the exit for the center of Monroe I decided that I would like to eat at Arby’s instead. As I was driving toward Arby’s I looked to the right and there was a huge Dollar Tree Store that I had never noticed before. I quickly pulled into the parking lot and went inside to see if they had any of the packages of six little cars that I want for the shoe boxes I am filling for Operation Christmas Child. I did not find any cars but I found a goldmine instead. Right in the front of the store was a big bin filled with tee shirts that were priced at one dollar. I dived right in and found six for the boxes I am filling for boys. I feel that God was telling me that I wanted to eat at Arby’s so that I would see the Dollar Store and go in and my search for boy tee shirts would be over.
Very happy with my purchase of tee shirts, I drove to Arby’s and had a late lunch. I left Arby’s and drove to the Mall and was quite unhappy to find out that the store did not have the boomerang pillow. I told the salesman that I had seen them online and he told me that yes they were online but not in the store. I had already learned that about Target and Wal-Mart. Guess if I want the pillow I will have to order it online. And then I may just forget it and buy a new, firmer pillow than the one I have now.
Since I was at the Mall I decided to look for a skirt for myself. I went into one store and saw one in red and white, which of course caught my eye. It was a tiered skirt and I am not too sure that is the best style for someone my age. Besides I did not like the price. Then I walked three doors down to the Christian bookstore and asked about a Life Application Bible in large print. I have one but the print in the “application” part is just too small. The girl helping me showed me the largest print they had and it was no larger print than the one I have. So I left there empty handed also. By this time I was tired, my knees were just about to give out on me, and my stomach felt queasy. I decided it was time to go home so I left Monroe and drove straight home even though I needed to grocery shop.
When I got home I rested for a while and then drove to Jonesboro to get the few groceries that I needed. Well not really needed but things that Brian and I wanted. When I got the groceries out of the car, I stood the box of diet Dr. Pepper on end on the step so that I could open the door. When I picked the box up the end opened and all twelve cans of pop rolled out. That was just a perfect ending for a tiring afternoon. I just left them and went inside for I needed to get the ice cream into the freezer. I went back to pick up the pop and I hit one with my foot and it rolled under the car. I picked up five that were on the carport and then looked under the car and could not see any cans. I walked around the car and there in the grass were six cans that had rolled under the car and off the edge of the carport. I was still missing one can and could not see it under the car. I backed the car up knowing that I would either crush it flat or I could then pick it up. If I had looked under the front of the car I would probably have seen the can for it was right next to the tire on the inside. Amazing that none of the cans popped open. What an afternoon!
