Now I Know
Had a doctor’s appointment this morning at nine and was there a few minutes early. The nurse was late getting in so the front office did not have a sheet for me to take to the lab for my blood work. Probably just as well since after I talked with the doctor he added three more tests. In addition to checking my blood sugar, cholesterol, and a test to be sure my medicine is not harming my kidneys, he added tests for thyroid, B12 deficiency, and anemia. He did this after I told him how tired I am all the time. Told him that I found out that all three medicines that I take cause tiredness and he agreed but said he also wanted to check other things.
Since the day before Christmas Eve, my right ankle has been hurting so much that I could hardly walk, definitely walked with a limp. I kept racking my brain trying to think what could have caused it and I could not remember bumping it or injuring it in any way. This morning in the shower it finally dawned on me the cause of the sore ankle for it has been hurting ever since I got home from Fort Worth.
I asked the doctor about my ankle and told him that I had climbed up and down stairs when I was in Fort Worth and he said it was tendinitis caused by the stair climbing. He said if I had been climbing stairs before then I would have been all right. I do NOT climb stairs unless that is the only way I can get to where I need to go. Most places with stairs also have handicapped ramps and I always walk up those. He suggested wrapping my ankle and elevating it. Since I want it to get well quickly, I have spent the day since I got home with my foot propped up and reading a book or at the computer.
Felt pretty smart figuring out that it was all the stair climbing that made my ankle hurt but of course I did not know the name for the injury. I also mentioned to him how my neck has been hurting for ages and he looked at my neck and said he could tell just by looking that I had arthritis in my neck. He told me to be sure to not sleep on a thick pillow but have one that supported my neck and that kept my head back with my ears even with my shoulders. I may need to get one of those little neck pillows to use with my thin pillow.
Since I need to keep my ankle elevated for a couple or so days, I think I will work on getting the last of my craft books listed on my website. But first I will have to get my new scanner plugged up and working. Mignon gave me the scanner over a year ago and I just never got it plugged up and working. My old scanner finally bit the dust; at least I cannot get it working again. I have not had Brian check it so maybe I should do that before I switch over to the new one. Would like to finish the books on the old one for they may scratch the glass covering and definitely do not want any scratches on the new scanner.
