Merry Christmas, 2009

A few minutes before nine this morning, Scott knocked on my bedroom door and asked if I was ready to get up and open presents.  I suggested that he, Brian, and Christy go eat breakfast and then call me again.  About nine thirty there was a knock on my door again so I got up, dressed, and came into my studio for our present openings.  We had put all the presents under the tree in my studio to keep the cats from destroying the packages.  When all of us had opened all our presents there was still one package under the tree that said “Everyone.”  I opened it and there were four presents inside and each had an initial on it.  Christy and I got books and Brian and Scott got CDs.  Neither one of the boys will admit to doing it but it had to be one of them.  Of course it could have been Christy.

I received the two things that I had on my wish list and then some other small gifts.  I now own the book, Crazy Shortcut Quilts that has an easy and fairly quick way to quilt as you go.  I really want to try it out so next week I may do a baby quilt using the method in the book.  I am really interested in using the method to make the wedding quilt that I owe my niece.  I usually quilt the front and the back separately and then put together making a nice fluffy quilt.  My niece wants a very thin quilt so the method in the book will work great.  Maybe I will get her quilt made before her next anniversary.

My other gift was a four CD set of gospel songs by Elvis.  I am sitting here listening to them as I write this post.  As we were finishing dinner, Scott said he should just go to bed since he was tired but he is still in the living room watching football.  I did something this afternoon that I have not done in over a year.  I sat and watched TV.  There was a Bones marathon and Scott was watching that so I joined him and really enjoyed it.  Brian and Christy are at her parents and will probably not get back until very late so I think I am going to go to bed early tonight too.  Has been a very quiet and restful Christmas Day.
