Advent Calendar Ready For December 1

Spent most of the day running errands.  At least all the end of the year taxes and the like are now taken care of for another year.  Since it was mid afternoon when I got all the errands finished, I decided to drive to Ruston and see if I could find a pair of black pants that I really liked.  I was fortunate for I found the pants I wanted and they were on sale and then to make it even better I found a sweater to go with the pants and it was also on sale.  I plan to wear them to Scott’s graduation with the long sweater coat that I bought a couple of weeks ago.  I certainly hope that it is not really cold in Fort Worth the eleventh of December for I no longer own a heavy coat.  I had one that I had owned for about ten years and I think I wore it maybe three times so last winter I donated it to my favorite thrift shop.  For me a heavy coat is not necessary down here in the subtropics.

I was to go to Ashley’s about four to do the advent calendar but she was late leaving school and then had to make a whirlwind trip to Green Clinic to get Brody’s antibiotics.  She called when she was leaving Ruston and asked if I would like something from Captain D’s for supper for she was in the drive-thru.  She called when she got back to Quitman and I left for her house.  When I got there she said that she was so stressed that she ate all her food driving home.  So, Bryce and I had supper together.

After eating I got the advent calendar ready for Bryce to start tomorrow morning.  Nearly all the gifts were too large for the tiny pockets so they are numbered and on the table beside Santa.  Bryce came up to me while I was putting some things in the pockets and told me he knew what one was.  I asked him what it was and he said candy.  Did not tell him that it was really a tiny car.  I had forgotten that there were twenty-five pockets and not just twenty-four so for the last one I put all the change I had in my billfold into the pocket.  The little imp dug his fingers in that pocket and pulled out the money.  Oh well, we were both having fun so it really did not matter.  I had him put it back and told him he had to wait until the correct number came around before he could get the money. When I was ready to leave he gave me a big hug and a thank you.  Made it all worthwhile and make my heart glad.
