It Finally Happened

This afternoon I was at Wal-Mart to pick up some groceries and decided to go back to the fabric department to see if my friend was working.  To say I was surprised is putting it mildly.  The fabric department was GONE, well almost gone at least.  There were about twenty-five partial bolts of fabric marked down seventy-five percent but there was nothing that interested me.   I did finally see a piece that will make a nice tablecloth so of course I had to buy it.  Then I wandered over to the laces and trims where I saw a trim that was red and green Paisleys. I bought all that was left which was nine and a half yards.  I have many, many paisley fabrics that I want to make into a wall hanging or lap quilt and I think this trim will look nice as the finished edge on a black border.  At least that is my thought now and the item will be for me.  The saleslady in what used to be the fabric department and I had a nice long chat about the powers that be in Wal-Mart and why they are closing all the fabric departments.  I really hate to see the fabric department eliminated but obviously Wal-Mart does not listen to the wishes of their customers and salespeople.

This has been a productive day even thought I did not do what I had intended to do when I got up this morning.  When I got home from Wal-Mart this afternoon I decided to post two or three books to my website before I started working on Mignon’s quilt.  I never did get to the quilt but I now have twenty-five more books posted.  The program that Scott wrote for me makes the job so much easier and less time consuming.  I am going to try to post a few each day until I am finally finished.  I was going like a house afire but after about twenty I started to get tired so from now on will just do two or three at a time and spread it out instead of doing twenty-five at one sitting.  I am proud of myself for getting something worthwhile done today.

No post from Scott today but guess that is to be expected since they are staying at a school with no electricity.  I am pretty sure that tomorrow the group will be back at their base camp.  Will be interesting to see how they did with no electricity.  Here in the USA we never think about it until it goes off and then we can’t seem to function.  We would all benefit by visiting for a while in a third world country and I am sure that then we would all be more appreciative of what we take for granted in America.
