Happy Fourth Of July

This has definitely been a HOT Fourth of July. The AC has run constantly and it is still not as cool as we would like. Fortunately my studio is very cool so I stay our here most of the time.
Dinner tonight was great. Christy prepared the food for grilling but it ended up that Scott just more or less took over the grilling. Oh well, it really did not matter to me who grilled as long as I did not have to do it. The plan now is that Christy is going to fix pork loin on the grill tomorrow night. To me that will be even better than hamburgers.
This morning I got a call from a good friend from church and she told me that she was making a buttermilk pie for me. Wednesday night at the church supper I asked her if she had brought one. She mentioned that she would make one for me but I thought that she meant for the next church supper. As it turns out she made two and her husband brought them over this afternoon when I was at the grocery. As soon as I got home I had a big piece. Then Scott and Brian each had a piece. I am about ready for another big piece and that will probably finish off one of the pies. That was just so sweet of her to do that for me. But she is a great lady and sweet as can be to everyone.
We have been waiting around for it to get dark so the guys can shoot off all the fireworks that they bought yesterday when we were in Shreveport. We have already seen about a third of what they bought and then they decided to come inside and have ice cream. People all around us are shooting off fireworks too.
Yesterday when we got to the men’s shop, Scott and Brian started looking around and Brian could not find anything that he liked. Scott found two pair of jeans, a pair of khaki chinos, and a pair of khaki shorts. I was planning to buy each one item and get a free one but ended up buying two for Scott. But he needed them and he is short of money so I bought them for him. Brian finally found two knit shirts that he liked. So we came home with six items but only had to pay for three of them.
After the shopping spree, Brian drove all over the back streets of Shreveport and Bossier City looking for a certain fireworks stand. After all the time we spent driving around and then buying fireworks it was finally time to go to the restaurant for dinner. We went to Salt Grass Steak House down on the Boardwalk in Bossier City. It is really a neat area with all kinds of stores and restaurants. Too bad my knees hurt so much that I could not enjoy wandering around looking at everything. All four of us really enjoyed our meal. I was the only one who had to have a doggie bag.
All the fireworks were neat. Fortunately by the time it was dark enough to see the fireworks, it had cooled down several degrees. The next-door neighbor was shooting off lots of fireworks with his two kids and then someone in the subdivision across from us was shooting off really neat ones also. We not only had our own fireworks show but also those of the neighbors.
Another Fourth of July is over and now it is time to get to bed for must be up by nine tomorrow morning to get to church on time.
