And Stiill More Sorting And Tossing
Brian was planning to leave at nine thirty this morning to go down to Christy’s parents so I was up at eight to make breakfast. He was also up and told me he would not be leaving that early so I could sleep some more. I immediately jumped back in bed for thirty more minutes of shuteye.
As soon as breakfast was over Scott was back upstairs pulling out boxes and bags and bringing them down for me to sort through and either toss in the trash or in a bag for the thrift store. Brian left and Scott continued to work while I made the chocolate chip cookies I had promised him. When I was finished he asked me to come upstairs and see what he had done. I only went up to look and ended up staying up there an hour or more going through more stuff. Once again Scott’s pickup was completely loaded and the back seat of my car was also loaded. Sad to say there are still several boxes and bags upstairs that need going through. There is a long bookshelf filled with books and notebooks but they belong to Scott and Brian so I will not touch those.
I plan to spend New Years Day going through all the Christmas stuff and getting rid of most of what I have. Scott really got me going and now I am in the mood to get things completely cleared out.
Scott and I were going to have lunch at Cane’s after we dropped off the bags and boxes at the thrift store but when we arrived in the parking lot we saw their sign saying they were closing at three so their employees could celebrate. It was five minutes after three. I asked Scott where else he would like to eat and he said he was not really hungry so he left for Fort Worth and I went to Applebee’s for a late lunch. I sent him home with a big cooler bag filled with chocolate “trees”, chocolate chip cookies, Rice Krispie treats, a pizza casserole, and the leftover breakfast casserole from this morning. If he got hungry on the way home he had plenty to choose from.
While we were sorting stuff this week I found the dress that I wore to a New Years Eve party thirty seven to forty years ago. I cannot remember the exact year but I do know it was during that time frame. It is dark green velvet and probably the only thing of that color that I have ever owned. I made it green because that was my boyfriend’s favorite color. I am smarter now and would never do that again. I really do not like the color. What dumb things women do for men. When I look at the dress I wonder if I will ever be that slim again. I definitely will never wear a dress or skirt that short again. I have jackets longer than the dress.
I watched the ball drop in New York City but it was only eleven my time. I am tired and am going to be in bed when it is 2009 here in the bayous of Louisiana. I have watched the descent of the ball for years but tonight as I sat there watching it struck me that it was really rather boring watching thousands of people screaming and yelling and then watching a big ball of glass drop down in just a few seconds. I should have gone with my first idea and gone to bed at eleven.
