I am beginning to think that I need lessons to know how to set an alarm clock. Last night I did the same thing that I did once before. I set my alarm for nine o’clock but I had it set for PM and not AM. I woke up this morning about eight thirty so I got up and took my morning pill. Knew I had about another twenty minutes to nap so crawled back in bed. I woke up and thought to myself that it had been quite a while since I got back in bed. I picked up my cell phone, which is my alarm, and looked at the time and it was fifteen minutes before ten. There was no way I could get ready and get to church by ten but at least I was early for the worship service. I was really disgusted with myself. Have a morning appointment with the eye doctor tomorrow morning so I have already checked to be sure the alarm is set for AM.
After church today I drove to Ruston to have lunch and then spent the afternoon in the library. Before I went in I took pictures of some of the flowers around the library. I had been noticing the crepe myrtle for a few days but had missed this gorgeous hibiscus.
This hibiscus is native to Louisiana and in some places they can be seen growing wild. I was not that familiar with hibiscus until we moved to Louisiana and was very surprised to learn that a bloom only lasts for one day. But what beauty for the day and the bushes are very prolific bloomers. I had some around the above ground pool a few years back but when the pool was sold and the guy removed it, he destroyed the hibiscus. I am going to see about getting some in the yard by next summer. I have had the Chinese hibiscus many times but they do not last through the winter for even Louisiana is too cold for them to survive.
