Two of the blocks for Mignon’s quilt are pictures that were transferred to fabric using a printer. The pictures were trimmed and attached to the white background fabric but they did not look finished and I knew that just doing wide satin stitch around the edges would not be what I wanted. I bought three different trims that in the store looked great but when I tried each trim with the pictures all I saw was trim. This morning I woke up and decided that I was going to drive to Hobby Lobby and not leave until I found something that would work to frame the pictures and not overpower them. When I arrived at the fabric department in Hobby Lobby I told the lady that I needed some help and then showed her the pictures and told her that I wanted something that would frame the pictures and that would also look good. Bless her heart she pulled out several ribbons and finally we found something that looked the way I wanted. Would you believe that I ended up with Just plain old satin ribbon, a very pale yellow for the picture of the three girls and a lavender for the picture of two friends. I had thought of ribbon but had not seen the correct color. Tomorrow I am going to get those two blocks completed for now I am happy with the way they will look.
Since I was in the fabric department of Hobby Lobby I had to look at the fabrics even though I had no intention of buying any. Actually I was looking for fabric that looked liked an open box of chocolates. The first thing that caught my eye was a beautiful piece of fabric with aqua flowers and paisleys on a black background. It was so pretty that I bought half a yard. Then on the way home I stopped at the quilt shop to see if they had any fabric with chocolates but none there either but I did find a fabric with magnolias on a black background so bought half a yard of that too. The lady at the quilt shop thought the flowers were gardenias but they look more like slightly stylized magnolias to me and so they will be magnolias.
No sewing was done today but at least my running around was connected to the quilt so I guess the day was not wasted after all.
