Finally Said Goodbye

Awoke this morning about eleven thirty so got out of bed and gave Mignon a call.  She said that Barry was home but up in the attic working.  I read a few emails and then got dressed and arrived at Mignon’s about twelve thirty.  Barry was still in the attic working so I sat and chatted with Mignon while she was doing different tasks in the kitchen.   And since Mignon is the epitome of hospitality, she brought out brownies and other goodies left over from Barry’s going away party.  Never one to pass up a brownie I ate a couple.  Then she brought out chicken salad and croissants, also from the party, and insisted I have lunch.  She said she had a large, late breakfast and was not hungry.  I kept waiting for Barry to come inside,  Mignon and I kept talking, and during the wait, Ashley and Bryce came in.  Then it was Ashley offering brownies and how could I resist.  Then about four Mignon decided she was hungry so we both had more chicken salad with croissants and still more brownies.  I went over to just be there long enough to tell Barry goodbye and when I finally left it was a couple minutes after five thirty.  I could not believe that I had been there for FIVE hours.

When I called Mignon this morning she was trying to remember a certain Bible verse that mentioned a brawling woman.  I think Barry was a little upset with her for trying to get him out of the attic which was extremely hot.  I thought she had said bawling so of course I could not find anything in the Bible concordance.  I took the book with me and then she told me that it was brawling.  I immediately found that in the concordance and then looked it up in the Bible.  Had a good chuckle and then showed the verse to Mignon.  “It is better to dwell in the corner of the housetop, than with a brawling woman and in a wide house.” Proverbs 25:24 KJV  I personally like the New International Translation better. “Better to live on the corner of the roof than share a house with a quarrelsome wife.” Proverbs 25:24 NIV

Earlier this evening I was reading the verse again, in fact I was reading the entire chapter, and ran across another verse that I must share with Mignon.  So appropriate after I spent five hours at her house this afternoon.  “Withdraw thy foot from thy neighbor’s house; lest he be weary of thee, and so hate thee.” Proverbs 25:17 KJV  I think maybe the NIV translates it more succinctly.   “Seldom set foot in your neighbor’s house–too much of you , and he will hate you.” Proverbs 25:17 NIV

While Mignon was running around doing things I had a talk with Ashley and she helped me decide on what I want to do for Mignon as a going away present.  I am going to make a quilt with each block being a different item that has a special meaning for both Mignon and me.  Some of the blocks will just be fabric and others will have to be appliquéd.   I would love to appliqué them all but since she will be leaving in three weeks  I don’t think I have enough time.  Besides some of the fabrics I have such as one with crawfish might be prettier than an appliqué of a crawfish.

And with that decision made, I am off to bed so that I can get up early tomorrow and start pulling fabrics and finding appliqué patterns.  Who knows I might find enough fabric that I will not have to do any appliqués.
