Tuesday when I got up I had a slight cough and then by yesterday I had a deep, throaty cough. I had decided that it was the lint from the batting and material that was causing my cough so last night before church I drove down to Walmart and bought a package of dust masks. Today when I started to sew I put on one of the masks and after about ten minutes I took the thing off and gave it a toss toward the trash can. I could not stand all that hot air inside the mask. I will just take my chances with the lint.
Yesterday I cut and ironed fourteen whole cloth quilt tops and then got about twenty tops and backs cut but did not get them ironed for ironing the fourteen tops made my shoulder start hurting. Today I decided to go back to the way I have been making baby quilts by quilting the top and back separately, sewing the two pieces together, turning, and then doing a decorative stitch around the edge.
I finally finished up two quilts today. It is just too time consuming to pin the quilts up on a board and then take a photo. So I just plopped these on the floor and took both at one time. I am sleepy and want to go to bed. The green fabric is what I found for a dollar a yard. Even though it is one hundred percent cotton it was a pain to quilt. I may cut the rest into blocks and put with other blocks for I think it would work better that way.
I had a problem with the sewing machine early this afternoon when the thread kept breaking when I was stitching. I would clear the thread from around the hook, thread the needle again, start sewing again and the thread would break again. I did this about six times and then I decided that it could be the thread so I changed the spool of thread and that seemed to correct the problem. I am also having a problem with the foot control. I will be sewing along at a good clip and then it will slow down drastically. At least it keeps on sewing, and this time I don’t have the one stitch button on. I certainly hope the machine keeps working for I do not have the time for the machine to go on the blink. I want to get at least twenty five quilts finished by the fifth of May.
