Almost A Wasted Day

When I woke up this morning it was pouring rain so I turned over in bed and said to myself that I would get up later when the sun was shining. Lo and behold when I woke up about nine, the sun was shining brightly.

I did not get a quilt made today but I did get some preparation work done. I washed the ten yards of fabric that I bought last night and I did not cut into smaller pieces for did not want to waste any of the fabric. Ten long yards of fabric is not all that easy to transfer from the washer to the dryer for it seemed to be in one big twist. I had also washed several pieces of flannel that were a yard or less in size and I was beginning to think that it would never dry. Instead of freely tumbling about in the dryer, I think all the pieces just clumped together into a big ball of fuzzy flannel. Unfortunately the ten yard piece will have to be ironed and I am not looking forward to that.

After Curves this afternoon I went to the local library and one of the librarians asked if I had tried the new PLAYAWAY which is a small player with a book recorded on it. It is checked it out just like any other book on tape and earphones are the only thing needed to listen.

The front of the player shows the title and author and the back has all the necessary buttons. The player comes in a padded case the size of a video case and the inside cover has instructions for all the buttons shown above. Finally found the price on the case cover, $59.00. I will make sure that I do not misplace it. The player is not as large as the pictures but is 3 3/8″ x 2″. There are fourteen hours recorded on this little gadget. Isn’t technology great?

The library has certainly changed over the years. Not too many years ago libraries only had books with a card catalog in big cabinets with lots of drawers. Now one can even check out paintings at some libraries and the computer has made the card catalog a relic.. The new thing I like the best I think is the eAudiobooks that I can simply download to my computer and then after twenty days they expire. I wish it were just ten days but I guess if I just download one a day, then after twenty days they will start expiring at the rate of one a day.

Maybe I did not get as much done today as I felt I should have, but I had fun learning about new things.
