Today Was A Great Day
Normally on Tuesday morning I get up a few minutes before nine so that I am on time for Bible study. This morning I wanted to call Lynn at Advancing Native Missions with questions about the quilts I will be making for her organization. With eyes half closed I found my way to the computer to see if there was an email from her. There was and it told me that she was out of the office for the morning. Probably broke a speed record getting back to bed for at least forty five more minutes of sleep. Actually I did not sleep but listened to a book on tape with my eyes tightly closed. The second time the alarm sounded I headed for the shower.
When Bible study was over I told the ladies that I had a question. I told them that any of them had any batting that they did not need that I would love to have it to use for the quilts I am making. Only one in the group quilts so the others were saying they had none but they could buy some. After about a minute of discussion they all decided that they would just give me money and that I would order a roll of batting from Fairfield. By the time we left church, they had given me enough money to buy one roll of batting. As soon as I got home I called the company and ordered two rolls since I could pay for one because Brian had repaid a small loan. That will give me one hundred and fifty yards of batting and should keep me busy for a while.
After ordering the batting I gave Lynn another call and this time she was in and we had a good discussion about the quilts. They are sending a container of supplies on May 10th so I told her that I would at least get a few quilts to her by then. Oh yes, the church treasurer said that the church should be willing to pay postage for the quilts. So now the only thing left to do is for me to get to sewing and I plan to do that tomorrow morning. I have several patterns in mind that are quick and easy to make and also have the fabric in mind. I am going to use juvenile prints for the first bunch of quilts and will be making them for boys and girls. After the juvenile prints are used up, most of the quilts will probably be appropriate for either a boy or a girl. I just don’t have that much girlie pink in my stash.
This afternoon I was checking at the Ouachita Parish Library trying to find the last book of the Left Behind series on tape or CD. I found that the library now has many of their audio books available for download to be played on the computer or a MP3 player. Unfortunately the one I wanted had to be downloaded. Since I like to listen when I am in bed, I decided that I needed a MP3 player. I spent about fifteen minutes on the phone with the reference librarian explaining to me just how the eAudiobooks work. After that I had to make a quick trip to Wal-mart to get a player. The player I bought has a battery that is recharged with the USB port so that will be nice not having to buy batteries all the time. Before the first use it has to charge for three hours so will not be using tonight for I do not want to stay up late enough for it to charge. I had said that I would never be buying a MP3 player but since so many of the library’s books are now electronic I decided that it was time to get myself a new toy.
