Today was an absolutely gorgeous day. It was a typical March day with a fairly strong breeze but that did not detract from the beauty of the day. Everywhere one looks there are flowers blooming in all their glory and the fruit or flowering trees are in full bloom. Azaleas are starting to bloom in many yards. In the woods behind my house, the wisteria has popped out in just the last two days. Our first summer in Louisiana the entire back side of the yard was completely covered with the lavender blooms. Since wisteria vine eventually kill trees, Don would cut them back every year. In the almost seventeen years since he died, the wisteria has made a comeback but it is still not as thick as it was. A couple of years ago I saw a tree on the way to Jonesboro that was completely covered with wisteria and it was beautiful. Have not been able to see it the past two years and am wondering if the tree was cut down since I am sure it was dead for it was completely covered with the wisteria vines.
The entire back side of my yard looks like this picture from the south corner to the north corner. Just imagine the entire green area and the tree trunks covered with the lavender flowers and you will know how it looked our first summer in Louisiana.
