Birthday Dinner

About half an hour after noon Brian finally arrived for a pancake breakfast.  My two sons can really put away the pancakes and bacon.  I can keep up with them on the bacon but pancakes are not my favorite.  I would rather have waffles.  Brian left for his house in the middle of the afternoon and then he and Christy met Scott and me at El Chico’s in West Monroe at seven for Scott’s birthday dinner.  His birthday is not until Monday but since Brian will be gone tomorrow and Scott will be back in Texas on Monday, we had to have the birthday dinner tonight.

For twenty-nine years I have been making Easter baskets for the guys but I think this may be the last year.  They teased me unmercifully and were very unhappy that I wanted a picture of them with their basket.  Scott informed me that he would be thirty years old in two days and here I had him posing with a silly Easter basket.  I told him that in forty years he could show the pictures to his grandchildren and his reply was, “Yes and they will say look at grandpa, he was a dork.”   So I think that next year instead of spending all that money on candy, I will just buy something for myself.
