I Now Have A Laser Printer

Last night before Mignon and I went to Pizza Inn for supper we stopped by Office Depot to pick up my new laser printer. My old printer just stopped working and no matter what I did it would not print. I had talked with Scott about buying a new one and he sent me a site to check that had printers of all brands and prices rated. Found a printer/scanner/copier by Canon that was perfect and the price was right. Then after talking more with Scott he suggested that I buy an inexpensive Brother laser printer to do my label printing for my business and then later buy the inkjet for all my other work. I was getting the Canon so I could print labels but Scott reminded me that inkjet sometimes smears and the laser would be the best buy. One thing that sold me on the Canon was the salesman told me that it would print on fabric and I have plans to do a good bit of that. I have some special quilts planned and printing on fabric will be required. So I listened to Scott’s advice and bought a laser printer.

Did not open the printer last night for was hoping that Brian could get the old one working and if he could I was going to return the laser printer. Tonight Brian came down and tried several things with the old printer but it had definitely bit the dust. The salesman said that printers usually last two to three years and I have had the old HP for eight years so guess I got my moneys worth. The salesman at Office Depot told me that they have a new sale starting every Sunday, so I am going to start checking every Monday to see if they have printers on sale. Last week they had a Brother Laser for fifty dollars. I always seem to miss a good sale. I am hoping that the Canon inkjet I want will go on sale for such a price. Since I don’t need it right now I can wait until it is on sale.

I could have installed the software and set up the new printer but I bribed Brian with dinner for him and Christy if he would come and set it up for me it he could not get the old one working. Had to feed him first so we had dinner at a Chinese buffet in Jonesboro. When we got home it took him just a few minutes to get the printer up and running. He printed off a page of address labels for himself and the printer worked slick as a whistle. I was wondering today if I had been smart to purchase the new laser printer but now I am happy that I did. Now I need to sell some more books so I will need to print some labels.

Had my appointment with the eye doctor today and my eye pressure is low as it should be and the eye is very healthy. I had to do a test where I stare at a little yellow dot and then every time I saw another dot in my field of vision I clicked a button. He said my field of vision was great and that is good news since I only have vision in one eye. But I do have to continue to use the eye drops to keep the glaucoma under control. At my last visit he had said at the next visit we would discuss using a laser to correct the glaucoma and I said I was not interested. He must have taken me at my work for today he did not mention it. If I had vision in both eyes then I might have it done in one but no way am I going to have a laser near my eye.

While Brian was setting up the printer, Christy was looking through my knitted fabrics from the seventies to see if there was any that was suitable for doll clothes. She found several pieces and I was happy for her to take it away. I want to eventually have maybe a dozen craft books, a few yards of fabric, and several spool of silk ribbon for embroidery. I just have more stash than any one person needs or can use up in one lifetime.
