I was all ready to go buy the newer Pfaff this morning but when I called the fabric shop I was told that the guy would not be at work today. Since I could not get the machine I went to Curves this morning and on the way home I checked the mail and I had a check for a book I sold through one of my groups. I packaged the book and made a trip to the post office to mail it. Made a better profit than I had thought for it was less expensive to send the book first class than media mail. That was nice. Am now waiting on a check from the lady in Alaska for another book I have sold and my store is not officially open yet.
I had made the decision to buy the newer Pfaff when it was going to cost me at least two hundred to repair my machine. The guy called me this evening and told me that he had gotten mine fixed after all. He removed a big ball of black fuzz and now the tension works perfectly. That is what I thought was wrong all along. So now only one hundred to repair mine compared to four hundred for the newer one with embroidery machine. But I had forgotten to tell him when I took the machine in that the foot feed was also acting up. Would be sewing along at a good clip and the machine would just stop. I would press on the foot control a time or two and the machine would start back up and might sew for another hour and then it might only sew for ten inches. Now I will not know until tomorrow how much that will cost. Probably will just be replaced. Of course the cost of the foot feed repair or replacement will help determine which machine I get, keep my old one or shell out some money and get the newer one.
I called my best friend tonight to just chat and to ask her opinion about buying the machine. She made a good point by asking me what I do for recreation. When I said go to the library, she asked if I thought it was worth four hundred dollars to have some fun for the next few years. She also mentioned something that I used to say all the time when I would buy something that was maybe not necessary. I would say I was spending my beer and cigarette money. What makes that statement funny is that I neither drink nor smoke. Well, I am going to sleep on it and will make my final decision tomorrow when I see what all the embroidery machine attachment will do.
