And More Christmas Lights

Been meaning to write on this blog that when someone comments on my blog I always answer but I write to the person at their private email address. If someone asks a question then I will answer on the blog. I do appreciate all comments.

Realized this morning that I should pay more attention to what I read on the back of the church bulletin. I read that Bible study would begin again on Monday night and Tuesday morning. So, this morning I got up early, showered, dressed, and took off for church. The class starts at nine thirty and when I arrived at church it was twenty-five minutes after nine but there was not a single car in sight. Called the pastor’s wife and she was not home. Then I called another friend and she told me that study was to start next Tuesday for the books had not arrived. Like an idiot I just saw “Tuesday” on the bulletin but did not read further to see that it also said “January 14.” As I told my friend, at least I was up early.

Tonight I decided that I had to replace my microwave that went on the blink. I bought one without all the bells and whistles for I use it mainly for reheating leftovers, melting butter and chocolate, heating water or milk for tea or cocoa, softening cream cheese, and popping popcorn. :O) I did splurge and pay three dollars more to get a black one. Oh, I could have managed without it; but it really is nice to have a microwave again.

The pictures tonight are of buildings that are decked out for Christmas in Jonesboro, Louisiana.

Methodist Church which is breathtaking and I especially love the arch.

Baptist Church which  is much prettier than it appears in the picture.  2002-christmas-lights-21-7.jpg

The small, local museum.

Jackson Parish Board of Education. One can see the star which appears to be floating in the sky quite a distance from the building.

Jackson Parish Court House. The green is continued on both ends of the building.

Office of Motor Vehicles. Every other state in the USA calls it the Department of Motor Vehicles. Louisiana is definitely different.

Jonesboro City Hall. Probably should not have included this photo but the building is so patriotic with the six flags done in lights across the front.

Funeral Home.

Jonesboro State Bank which is one of my favorite buildings because of the trees.

The red line on the right is the inside stairway outlined with lights.

Jonesboro Police Station. The wheels on the car go around.

And still more Christmas lights tomorrow night.

  2. You are not the only one that is glad she does not have to pay the electric bill. I think there is a special fund made up mainly of donations that pays for the lights that are not on businesses or churches. And then again maybe the city pays for it all. It is about the only claim to fame for the city of Jonesboro. At the Visitors Center in Ruston, there is a pamphlet for Jonesboro and the title is, The City Where There Is Nothing To Do. And the title does not lie. :O)

Probably the churches, businesses, and city buildings store all the lights in the attic or a spare room for there are no basements around here. Most likely there is a large building somewhere in the city where everything else is stored. Not too up on city business since I live two towns north of Jonesboro.
