Christmas Lights

I bought this tree before Christmas 2006 when I had a dislocated shoulder and did not feel like pulling out the big family tree.  Besides, I wanted a prelit one and was able to purchase this one for half price.  Would never have paid full price.  When it was time to take the tree down I just did not have the energy and the shoulder was still hurting.  So, the tree stayed up all year and each month I would put some decorations on that were typical of that month.  When Christmas 2007 rolled around the tree had hearts, shamrocks, Easter eggs, and flags on it.  I took all that stuff off and actually planned to decorate with Christmas ornaments but then I had a change of heart and this year we had just a tree of lights.  The icicle lights on the eight windows were still up too so that was my decorating for the season.  I am very seriously thinking of leaving it up again for if I stuff it in the original box it will get all smashed and then next Christmas I will have to spend a lot of time reshaping.  Now would you get the idea that I am lazy?  I just think of it as saving energy and time and I rather enjoyed seeing it decorated each month.

Poor Santa was sitting around until about the eighteenth of December when I finally remembered that I should be putting the candy cane on a ribbon in a different pocket each day to count off the days until Christmas.  I definitely was not in the swing of things for Christmas.

This Nativity was in my friend Mignon’s front yard. There were trees similar to weeping willows behind the figures and they simply made the scene seem more life like. There were several Nativity scenes around this year but this one really grabbed my attention.

This is my favorite decorated house in all of north Louisiana and every Christmas I look forward to seeing it..  This picture does not do it justice for in real life it is absolutely breathtaking.  Sometimes I think that I dream up reasons to drive  to the next town just so that I can see this home.  The picture below is of the other end of the house.

The four houses below are in the same area of town.  I think the owners try to outdo each other.  It certainly makes for a gorgeous display and I for one appreciate their efforts.
