Second Quilt Finished and Delivered

Was lying in bed about ten this morning enjoying listening to the latest Diane Mott Davidson novel when the phone rang. It was Santa Jr., better known as Brian, asking if I could do him a favor. He wanted to know if I could drive to his house and get Christy and bring her to his office for the Christmas party. She was making cookies for the party and was invited. Of course I told him I would and for him to call me back in about fifteen minutes when I would be out of the shower and he could tell me when to pick her up.

The second phone call was to tell me not to bother for he would go pick Christy up on his lunch hour. Then about fifteen minutes later he called for the third time and asked if I would just go to his house and pick up the cookies for Christy had decided not to attend the party. I again agreed and we set a time for me to go. And then he called for the fourth time and asked if Christy could borrow my Christmas movies. He kept trying to tell me the specific ones she wanted and I finally said, “I will just take them all.” And would you believe there was then a fifth phone call to ask for something that he needed that I had but is a surprise for Christy. Had to hunt for the things he wanted but finally located them.

After all the phone calls I finally was able to do the stitching around the quilt for another little boy but had to leave for Choudrant before I could get photographs made. Picked up the cookies, drove to the university and gave the cookies to Brian, and then I went to my favorite place in Ruston, the library. Checked out seven Christmas movies. After all I have seen all of mine except one and need some background noise while I sew the rest of the week. :O)

After running around as the Santa taxi I came home and decided to photograph the quilt outside in natural light. Was quite a production for had to put a sheet down on the grass to protect the quilt and then had to get the camera set up on the tripod. The pictures turned out very clear but since I was not directly above the quilt it was smaller in back than in the front, the perspective would have been fine for a road in a painting.. Came back inside with all my stuff and finally hung the quilt on the entertainment center and took photos straight on which looks so much better. I am going to rig up some way to make photos without having to go to so much trouble. Think I will attach a strip of wood to the wall and then attach clips to the strip of wood. Then I can just hang the quilts and get better photos.

After completing the photographing of the quilt, I had time to get my Christmas cards for friends at church all finished. I was on my way to Mignon’s to drop off the tenth day of Christmas gift when I realized that I had left the Christmas cards at home. I did not have time to go back home and get them for then I would have been late for church. Will just take them Sunday morning and put in the mailboxes. Fortunately I did remember the quilt for Brady and gave it to his grandma to give to him this weekend.

Brady’s quilt has the same front as the one I made for Bryce but the back has a different print. The photographs do not show the stitching but on the front I stitched down each highway and around every building or other object. On the back I simply stitched between each vehicle, which made for meandering stitching. If Brady is as happy with the quilt as his grandma, then it too will be loved until it is in tatters.

The quilts for Bryce and Brady were to be made before their births but Bryce was three before he received his quilt but Brady was only eighteen months. I think my time is improving.

After church I went to Wal-Mart to get all the food that I need for my part of our Christmas Eve celebration at Brian’s. Going to sew tomorrow and Friday and then will spend Saturday cooking. And of course everything that I am cooking is low calorie. Everyone knows that German chocolate cake is very low calorie. The only thing that might qualify as low calorie is the black bean salsa but the corn chips cancel that. :O)
