End Of The Week

Here the week is over and I have not gotten the Christmas presents finished. I just cannot seem to get things done, as I want to. It is obvious that I will not have them in the mail on Monday as I had planned. Hopefully they will be mailed on Tuesday.

I went to bed last night before midnight and I was still awake at six this morning. I finally got up about eleven and have been sleepy all day. I had books due at the Ruston library and also had a fine to pay. Took care of that and then stopped by Sonic for a hamburger. Then I had to go to Wal-Mart to get blades for the rotary cutter and to pick up a couple of other things I needed for my sewing. What a difference a new blade makes, it can cut through four layers of fabric like a hot knife through butter.

As I worked I continued to have Christmas movies on the TV. Today it was Miracle on 34th Street, Mrs. Santa Claus and A Christmas Carol. At the end of Mrs. Santa Claus, she and Santa were together in the sleigh and that brought back a great memory, which also made me a little sad.

The first Christmas we were married I made a Santa suit for Don and every year he played Santa for the nieces and nephews and then Scott and Brian when they came along. When we lived in Oklahoma I made a Mrs. Claus dress for me and each year on the night before Christmas Eve we would dress in our red outfits and go around the neighborhood passing out goodies to all our friends. Mother always visited over Christmas so she babysat the boys while we played Mr. And Mrs. Santa Claus. Sadly we did not continue this tradition after we moved from Oklahoma but we still dressed in our outfits for our family Christmas. In fact, I still wear my dress every Christmas Eve.

The picture on the left was made Christmas 1982 and the other was made in 1983. At least I think that is the correct date. I have been very lax in dating pictures and now all these years later I am not always sure of the dates.
