A couple of weeks ago as I was wandering up and down the aisles of the Christmas store in Wal-mart I had an epiphany. I realized I was not in the Christmas spirit. Usually I am raring to go right after Halloween. On my birthday, which is the thirteenth of November, I start playing Christmas music. I don’t know if it is my age, lack of extra money or what is keeping me from the feeling that I have always had at this time of year. Actually last year I was not too much in the spirit either but at that time I had a dislocated shoulder and that put a crimp in a lot of things I normally do during the holidays.
The thing that made me realize my lack of spirit was that as I went up and down the aisles I did not pick up a single item to have a closer look. Well I did pick up a box of blue lights and finally decided not to buy them. I do want more lights that are one color for I want to have different colored trees on my screened front porch. But I just did not have the desire to buy the lights even though I “need” them. And maybe I am getting smarter with my money. I could have charged them to my Master Card but since I did not have the money to use my debit card I declined. I am proud of myself.
Now that Thanksgiving has come and gone I have finally gotten a little Christmas spirit. Actually the day after Thanksgiving I was talking with Scott and told him that I had thought about not even decorating a tree this year. But since the tree is already up in my studio and is a prelit one then I guess I will drag out all the ornaments and decorate it. Not sure yet about all the trees on the porch. Before I do any decorating I must get the Christmas presents I am making finished and in the mail.
I just found out that my rotary cutter blade is dull as can be. I thought I still had two or three new ones but the box they were in is empty so guess I have used them all. So that means a trip to Wal-mart. Probably should go now so that I will be ready to start cutting when I get up tomorrow morning but do not really want to go out in the cold and dark. Would rather just go to bed. :O)
As I worked today I have watched or more accurately listened to four movies, Surviving Christmas, Annabelle’s Wish, The Kudzu Christmas and How The Toys Saved Christmas. Right now I have The Little Drummer Boy playing.
Since I started listing the movies I watch each day I guess I should mention that I watched The Santa Clause on Wednesday and then yesterday I watched Santa Jr. I have twenty-nine more movies of my own to watch and four from the library. Between Thanksgiving and Christmas I make up for not going to the movies the rest of the year. I LOVE Christmas movies.
Yesterday I was at the Ruston Library and picked up five Christmas novels and then today at the Jonesboro library I picked up three more. Actually I think I enjoy reading more than watching movies.
