It is nine thirty and Scott and I just got back home from spending most of the day with Brian and Christy. We went up about one and had turkey sandwiches on the left over hot rolls and of course left over pecan and sweet potato pie. I enjoy the turkey sandwiches the day after Thanksgiving as much as the meal on Thanksgiving Day.
I think that just about everyone who knows me knows that I am NOT a football fan. Do not know anything about the game except I can tell when they are running for a touchdown. After lunch the boys were sitting in the living room watching Louisiana State University and the University of Arkansas play. About twenty minutes before the game was over I started watching, after I learned who was playing. Just to be different I was cheering for Arkansas. Don and I lived in Arkansas the first three years of our marriage so I have a soft spot in my heart for Arkansas. And I have always been one to cheer for the underdog.
The score was tied three times, or maybe it was four, and then the game went into overtime. LSU would score and then U of A would score. I really got into the game for I REALLY wanted Arkansas to win. And I must be honest and tell you why I wanted them to win. Here in my neck of the woods people are absolutely nuts about LSU football and anytime a group of people are together after a LSU game that is all they talk about. Not liking football it really bugs me. And just to be a rebel and different I cheer for the other team. Last Sunday morning before Sunday school started, everyone was discussing the LSU game that was played the night before. Big mouth me said, “I thought we came to church to study about God and all we seem to talk about is football.” Of course I said it with a smile on my face. One of my women friends in the class asked me if I liked football and I assured her that I do not. Anyway when I go to Sunday school this coming Sunday I am going to walk into class and say, “Go Arkansas.” That should get some conversation going, or I may get tossed out on my ear. A couple weeks ago a Louisiana college team had been defeated by Alabama and I said, “Good.” A friend asked why I said that and I told her because I grew up in Alabama. Am I not awful to be so ornery? But seriously I get so ticked off at times with all the talk about football. Personally I think the main emphasis of college should be to get an education and not to play football. It just bothers me that so much money is spent on sports and academics seem to come in at second place. I know that I am in the minority. But I have always marched to a different drummer.
After the football game, Scott and Brian went to Ruston and picked up pizza and a movie. We sat around the coffee table in the living room eating our pizza and watching Shrek the Third. Scott and I saw it in Fort Worth but Brian and Christy had not seen it. It was just as funny the second time. After the movie Scott and I headed home.
I am off to bed for I need to get up early tomorrow morning, prepare pancakes and bacon for my first born, and then we will get my web site finished. With the site finished and one hundred plus books listed, I can tell people that my online store is open and ready for business. At least that is the beginning plan. The rest of the plan is for me to add at least five books each day until I get them all listed. It is going to take me a while for there are close to eight hundred books to scan, crop and resize the photo, write up the description, and then transfer the photo and information to the web site. I am praying that people will buy the books for I want to downsize my book collection and I also can use the money.
Scott will be leaving to go back to Fort Worth tomorrow afternoon so we will go to Ruston and have a late lunch and I will come home to start on the Christmas sewing.
