Since it has been ages since I posted to this blog I decided that tonight would be a good time to remedy that situation.
Spent the day with Brian doing something that I really do not like to do….shopping. He is attending a wedding next weekend in Connecticut and needed new pants and shoes. So good old mom picked him up at his home this morning about ten thirty and we headed west to Bossier City.
On the way over Brian was talking about some asthma medicine that he needed but could not afford to buy. Since he is going out of town for four days and might need the medicine, I told him I would buy it for him. When we arrived in Bossier City, I was hungry so we stopped at Taco Bell and had a quick lunch. He mentioned that there was a CVS pharmacy just down the street and they had his prescription. So we left Taco Bell and drove to the CVS drive through. We sat there for about ten minutes while two different people searched for his prescription in their computer database. Meanwhile, Brian had about decided that he did not get his medicine at CVS but at Walgreen’s. Finally the poor guy at the drive through window came back and said he could not find Brian in their system. I gave the guy a big smile and told him that my son had finally remembered that he got the prescription at Walgreen’s. He laughed and we left and drove a couple more blocks down the street to Walgreen’s.
When we left Walgreen’s, we went to the Big and Tall shop and Brian only had to try on three pair to find ones that he liked and fit well. He said he had a shirt but was not sure where it was so I talked him into a new shirt. He tried on a sports coat and I would have bought it but he decided that he probably would not wear it after the wedding so that saved me a chunk of money.
With new pants and shirt in hand we went back to Walgreen’s to pick up Brian’s prescription. I nearly fainted when the pharmacist told me the price, one hundred ninety four dollars and change. Too bad I cannot use my Medicare drug card to buy medicine for my kids. But having had asthma as a child, I know what it is like to not be able to breathe properly so was happy to get the medicine for him. BUT, he will have to buy it the next time. He is going to see if the doctor will prescribe something less expensive.
I had heard that there was a needlework shop in Bossier City so I drove there to have a quick look. Told Brian that considering what I was doing for him, he could sit and wait for me for a few minutes. They had nothing that I could afford. There was a beautiful, small needlepoint angel but the price on the canvas was fifty six dollars. Hey, I can find a pretty picture and paint my own angel. I was looking for silk ribbon and they had about six pieces in colors that I did not like and it was also two dollar and fifty cents a yard which in my opinion is outrageous. Only spent about ten minutes in the shop and left without spending one red cent.
Got back in the car and we headed to the Pierre Bossier Mall to find shoes. Finally found what he wanted in the third store. I said earlier that I hate to shop so when we would go in a store I would find a chair or bench and would simply sit there and read while Brian searched for what he wanted. Besides, I was just along to hand over the plastic card.
When we left Brian’s home this morning I was expecting our shopping trip to last until late in the afternoon but fortunately we were on our way back home by three thirty. We arrived back in Ruston around five and decided to stop at Sonic and pick up supper for the two of us and Christy. We decided to go home and eat with Christy since eating at home is much easier than eating in the car. :O) For those who are not familiar with Sonic, it is a drive in restaurant that in my opinion has the best hamburgers around. At least fast food ones.
I told Brian that the new pants and shoes were early Christmas presents. Don’t think he believed me but he will when Christmas Day rolls around. :O) Even thought I do not enjoy shopping these days, it was great to spend the day with one of my two favorite people. Scott is the other favorite.
DD, I love your post. Sonic is one of my favorites, too. That was one of our favorite dates 30+ years ago. I’d either get a No.1 with cheese, cut the onions with a DP or a Burrito and a chocolate shake! Oh, the days to eat what you want and be thin anyway. Now I eat what I want and be fat anyway!LOL
