Fourth of July 2007

I have been neglecting my blog so decided that tonight was a good time to remedy that. I was sure that I would be spending today alone since Scott is in Cambodia on a mission trip and thought that Brian and Christy might go to her parent’s home. Well everything changed and I had a great day after all.

I met Brian and Christy in Ruston for lunch at our favorite Chinese buffet and then they came home with me so that Brian could solve a problem I was having with the computer. I was trying to get the program to work that will take photographs from my cell phone and put them on the computer. I had done what the directions said but for some reason it would not work for me. Well of course Mr. Computer Geek got it up and working in no time at all. When Brian was finished with the computer and I had tried the program to see that it really worked for me, he decided it was time for him and Christy to leave. I sent them home with a bag of yellow squash and zucchini for a friend at church had given me more than I could use.

Tonight was our monthly supper at church and I had planned to take a squash casserole. Well after the kids left I was playing on the computer and lost track of the time. When I finally looked at the clock it was five thirty and time for me to leave for church. I left home without a dish of food after deciding that I would ask my friend Mignon if I could be her guest tonight. There is always food left over so I was sure there would be plenty. Had an enjoyable meal and fellowship with church friends. Before the pastor spoke we sang three or four patriotic songs that set the mood for his sermon which was different than usual for a Wednesday night. The son of a friend was home from Iraq so that gave us all something to be thankful for on this day that celebrates our freedom in America.
I finished off the night by watching the Boston Pops Fireworks Spectacular on TV. The fireworks lasted for almost thirty minutes and were great. It was nice to sit in an air- conditioned room and watch fireworks and not have to suffer through the heat and humidity and fight the mosquitoes. And of course the Boston Pops music is always wonderful.

All in all I had a great time today celebrating the birthday of America.
