Tuesday, April 24 Was A Day Filled With Surprises

Tuesday morning I actually was awake and up and moving around by a few minutes after nine.  It was a beautiful,  sunny day and since the library had just called and told me they had the latest Elm Creek Quilts novel  for me, I dressed and took off for Ruston.  Picked up my book plus a couple more and three books on tape.   I never go to the library and get just one book.

As I was leaving the library I looked across the street and saw the Cingular store and remembered that I could now upgrade my phone since my two year contract was up.  My phone was to the point where I had to charge every night and I wanted the flip phone.   I went into the store and saw a little Nokia that I really liked but it was one hundred and nineteen dollars for an upgrade.  Well I did not want to pay that but the lady saw me looking at it and said she would sell it to me for sixty nine dollars.   I had been told by the lady at the store where I had always gotten my cell phone service that I could get the ninety nine dollar  phone with a fifty dollar rebate.  So I looked at the phone again and told the lady I would think about it.  She probably knew that I planned to go down the street and check out their phones.  Then she said I could have the phone for fifty dollars and she would not charge me tax which was a five dollar savings.  :O)  Well I decided to buy my phone from her.  I also found out that to get the rebate I would have to sign up for the media package.  The other lady failed to mention that little fact.  I left there a happy lady for I was finally the owner of a flip phone.  :O)  It is a camera phone and I asked about transferring photos from the phone to my computer but the cable would cost me thirty dollars so decided to wait for that.   Later that night when I was talking with Brian he said he has the cable so will get it for free.

After I finished at Cingular I had to make a quick stop at Walmart.  As I entered the store my phone rang.  I could hear only a word or two that the lady was saying so told her I could not hear her and would call back.  I called two more times and still could only hear the words Green Clinic and appointment so I just told her that I would come by the clinic in a few minutes.  I finished my shopping at Walmart and took off for Green Clinic thinking that the nurse wanted to make my next appointment.  Was I ever in for a shock.

Last week I had an ultra sound of my gall bladder and the doctor wanted to tell me that I had gall stones.  He wanted me to see the surgeon so his nurse took me to that office and got me set up.  It just so happened that the surgeon could see me right then.   After some poking and prodding by the surgeon he said I should have the surgery.  I asked why not wait until it hurt and he said if it is done now when not hurting me they make four small slits and remove the gall bladder.  But if they waited until it was really hurting then they would have to make a big incision across the stomach.  So I said all right I will have the surgery and he then asked if Tuesday, May first was all right.  I said yes, let’s get it over with as soon as possible.   The surgeon sent me across the hall to the lab for blood work, then upstairs to the cardiologist for an EKG, and then I had to go across the street to Green Clinic Surgical Hospital to get the time and other things set up.  It will be outpatient surgery and I will go in at 6:30 AM and surgery will be at 7:30 AM.   I hate that early time but I want to be the first patient when the doctor is just starting his day. I will have to have someone drive me home since I will be given an anesthetic.    I talked with Brian that night and unless something comes up he will be at my house at six in the morning and will take me to the hospital and then when they say I can go home, I will call him and he will come and get me.  Needless to say I did not go to Green Clinic expecting all of that to happen.  But at least it will be soon and I will not have to think about it for long.  The lady at the hospital did tell me that sometimes one cannot drive for a few days.  If that happens then maybe I can get some stuff done at home instead of running around spending gas money and surgery will also be a good reason for not doing house cleaning.  :O)

I left home on Tuesday morning planning to be back home in an hour or so but as it happened I did not get home until about four in the afternoon.   What a day!!!
