When I finally got out of bed this morning at ten thirty, Scott was already up and on his computer playing that game that he has been playing since he got here on Wednesday night. My shoulder and arm were hurting and I was just not in the mood to cook so we decided to go to Ruston for lunch since we both had to go up there anyway. Since he did not want to go grocery shopping with me and I did not want to go Christmas shopping with him, we each drove and met at Taco Bell. After our lunch we headed in different directions and I spent the next hour or so grocery shopping for the things needed for our Christmas Eve dinner and for all kinds of goodies to have around for snacking and to feed my first born. We are certainly not going to be lacking for sweet things to eat for the next week. I have a tendency to go way overboard when it comes to buying candy and the like to have around at Christmas time.
When I arrived home with all the food and goodies, Scott was a sweetie and unloaded the car for me but of course I had the fun job of putting it all away. Then I had to go to the bank to deposit a check that I had received from a friend for finishing the edges of a fleece blanket for her soon to be born grandson. Then it was on to the pharmacy to get a refill of my pain killer pills. I normally only take the pills at night so that I can sleep but my shoulder was hurting so much more than usual that I took a pill as soon as I got the prescription filled. And even though I had just spent over an hour and a hundred dollars at Wal-mart, I had to go to the local store for I had forgotten a couple of necessary items. We can’t have Christmas without almond M&Ms for Scott and Brian.
I had gotten the mail from the mailbox on my way to the bank and had just tossed it onto the passenger seat knowing that it was Christmas cards. When I got back home I opened the first card and it was from my Goddaughter with a picture of her and her beautiful family. Then I opened the second card which was from an online embroidery friend in Arizona. In that card were five tatted motifs that are absolutely gorgeous and will look great on a crazy quilt block. And then the last card turned out to be the best of all. There was no return address on the envelope and then when I opened the card there was no signature. What almost caused my chin to drop to the floor was what was in the card, a one HUNDRED DOLLAR bill. Scott was sitting at his computer and I said to him, “Look what is in this card. I can’t believe it. No name either.” Being the all wise son that he is, he said to me, “Someone knew you could use some extra money so they sent it to you.” I feel it has to be someone from my church. Some angel performed a random act of kindness and made me one happy lady. It would be nice to know who it was so that I could thank them but as Scott said, “If the person sending the money had wanted you to know they would have signed the card.”
Have a lot of cooking to do tomorrow and all my packages to wrap so I am off to bed before four in the morning. As Scott left the room heading to bed he asked if we could have pancakes tomorrow morning. Of course old soft touch Mom said yes but he will have to do the beating though for that hurts my shoulder.
Wow, what a wonderful surprise you received for Xmas. I can’t think of a nicer person for someone to give to. You take care of yourself and don’t over do the shoulder. Sounds like it is healing though and that is the best present of all….all that hard work is paying off. Love reading your blog.
