Had my second appointment with the orthopedic doctor this afternoon. He had me touch my nose with my injured arm and then put my hand on the back of my neck. The one touching my neck hurt a little but not too bad. Seemed very simple to me but then he said he was very pleased with my progress. Then I had to show him that I could raise my arm above my head, even though it took some help from the other arm getting started. He had not asked me to do that but I wanted him to know that I could. :O) Once I get started doing the exercise I can continue, it is just getting my arm up the first time. I have to do that exercise twelve times, three times a day. Some times I can only get to ten or eleven before I just have to stop for the pain is too much. But I am getting there for a week ago I could barely raise my arm. The doctor also cut my therapy sessions to two a week for the next three weeks and then I will have another appointment with him. I am hoping and praying that I will be able to stop therapy when the three weeks are up or at the very least, stop going to Green Clinic for therapy. I have a feeling that I will be doing the two exercises at home for quite some time. The doctor stressed that I was to continue doing the two exercises twelve times each, three times a day.
I told the doctor that my arm had been hurting more yesterday and today and asked him if that could be because of the rainy, stormy weather and he said it certainly could. I know that weather causes arthritis to hurt more so thought that was probably the case with my shoulder.
On a more happy note, Scott got home about five yesterday afternoon. He was planning to leave Fort Worth early in the morning and be in Ruston to have lunch with Brian. Just before I went into my therapy session I called him to see where he was. He was just leaving Dallas for he had overslept and was much later leaving. I told him that I would take him, Brian and Christy out for dinner and to call me when he got to Ruston.
I had gone to Monroe to finish my Christmas shopping after my physical therapy and I was almost finished when Scott called to suggest that we have dinner in Monroe. That was fine with me and I suggested Red Lobster since I had planned to take myself there for my birthday. I then called Brian and told him the plans. I finished up my shopping and then went to Red Lobster and got a nice table and sat there reading my book until the kids arrived. We had a great meal even though it took a bite out of my budget, but hey my kids are worth it.
When I got home from the doctor’s appointment this evening I was so tired that I told Scott that we would just go to the little Mexican restaurant down in Jonesboro for dinner. Tomorrow I am going grocery shopping and from now on we will be eating at home. I was probably more sleepy than tired when I got home. I had to wait an hour for the doctor to see me and was just too sleepy to read so I leaned my head back against the wall and I think that I went to sleep for a few minutes. Did not get to sleep until after five thirty this morning. I had planned to go to bed before midnight but Scott and I were both up working on the computer. Well he was playing a game. He is still playing that game tonight. But I am off to bed for it is almost midnight and I am sleepy and tired. I need to be all rested tomorrow for I have grocery shopping to do, house cleaning to finish, and some baking that I want to get done for our Christmas Eve dinner. Also want to make goodies for us to snack on for the next week. I am going to gain back the weight that I lost. :O)
