Birthdays November 13 and 14

The following was written on November 14 but my new blog was not set up until today. If Scott had not been here to help me I still would not have it up and running.

Today would have been Don’s sixty-fourth birthday. Yesterday was my sixty-eighth. Oh yes, I married a younger man. :O)

Since it was my birthday I decided to sleep until I woke up for with my dislocated shoulder there is not a lot that I can do. I had to make a trip to the Jackson Parish Tax Office to get my online business set up with the parish and turn in my tax report. Fortunately I can do the state tax report at the Louisiana tax web site. Found out I can even submit my parish tax forms via email. So far all entries on the forms are zeros. The business was officially started on October first but it is not up and running yet. When Scott is home for Thanksgiving I am hoping that he will help me get the store open. He told me there were templates to use and I checked them out but they might as well have been written in Greek.

Yesterday about noon Brian called and asked me where I wanted to go for my birthday dinner. There are not many choices in Ruston besides the fast food places but there is a new Mexican restaurant so I decided that would be a good place to go. I met Brian and Christy there and we had a really great meal. I will be going back there when I am in the mood for Mexican. After dinner, Brian took me to an ice cream parlor that was very enjoyable. After we finished our ice cream I got a big hug and then Brian and Christy went home and I came home.

When I arrived at home I came inside with all my stuff and then I realized that I did not have my cell phone. I checked all over the kitchen, studio, and the car but no phone. Since the cell phone is my only phone, the only thing I could do was get in the car and drive back to Ruston and the two places that I had been. When I was waiting for Brian to arrive at the restaurant I had been sitting outside on a big brick flower box. That was the first place I checked but no cell phone. Then I went into the restaurant and our waiter called my number on his cell to see if it was in the restaurant. No phone there either. Jumped into my car and drove to the ice cream parlor but got the same answer, no phone. Very dejected I got back into my car. For some reason after fastening my seat belt I ran my hand in the space between the passenger seat and the center console. Yes you guessed it; there was my cell phone. I was one happy birthday gal. I thought that I had checked that space when I was at home but obviously I did not check as well as I should have. If I had I would have saved myself about thirty-five miles of driving. Other than the cell phone fiasco I had a great birthday.

The only thing that would have made my birthday better was if Scott could have been home. But he is in Fort Worth working full time and going to seminary full time. I told him some weeks back to not come home for he would have had to miss work and school. He will be home in a little over a week and we can celebrate then.
